Dyplast was awarded the Manufacturer of the Year by the South Florida Manufacturers Association at the 38th Annual Recognition of Excellence Banquet dinner held on March 23rd at The JA World Huizenga Center at Broward College in Coconut Creek, Florida. Ted Berglund, Vincent Fuster, Ramon Betancourt and Yamilet Ramirez represented Dyplast at the event.

SFMA celebrates excellence in the manufacturing sector by recognizing both individuals and companies, who through a very demanding ranking process, demonstrate distinction in the categories of Employee of the Year and Manufacturer of the Year recipients. Dyplast was honored within its class (41 - 80 Employees) taking the winning spot of becoming the Best Manufacturer of the Year.  This recognition by the SFMA put Dyplast in the unique position of advancing to the state level competition - Florida Sterling Manufacturing Business Excellence (SMBE) where once again through a rigorous ranking process Dyplast will be evaluated and considered for an award.  The SMBE award ceremony will take place in Orlando in June.

Dyplast publishes new article, "Insulation Installation" in LNG magazine

The fifth Dyplast article published in LNG Industry magazine is entitled "Insulation Installation". Dyplast has devoted significant resources to producing and providing the insulation industry with in depth analysis and explanation of leading industry issues through its articles in LNG magazine. Previous Articles include...

Below is an exerpt of the new article..."Insulation Installation"

"Failures at a new LNG facility during the first few months of initial operations can be expensive and cause damage to a company's image. Therefore, most companies do everything possible to ensure a 'perfect start-up', but this is easier said than done. Identifying what may ultimately cause problems is a first step to controlling and eliminating those problems. Although it may be challenging to anticipate the main reasons for forced shutdowns or curtailments during the first months of operation, poor design and installation of the insulation system are clearly on the list.

While many of the principles that are discussed are applicable to any insulant, this article focuses on polyisocyanurate (polyiso) and cellular glass (cell glass), since there is more long-term experience with those insulants, with successful service, with no failures over periods of 20 years and more."

Dyplast new Article, “Commercial Quality Control: The Missing Link”, in LNG Industry Magazine

Dyplast Products has published its latest article in LNG Magazine titled “Commercial Quality Control: The Missing Link”. In an era with disparate pricing, a multiplicity of owners/stakeholders, long-term price volatility, multiple concurrent plant constructions, a shortage of skilled personnel, and increasingly complex technologies, owners/stakeholders in LNG projects increasingly face new risks.

This article introduces commercial quality control as an approach to move more impact factors to the controllable side of the ledger, and also as a way of better identifying and mitigating risks across the project lifecycle – beginning at project inception, but encompassing development, financing, construction and operations.

Ted TALK #3: “Due Diligence!”

Ted TALK: “Due Diligence!”

Dyplast’s ongoing survey of below-ambient insulation applications indicates that over 65% of projects fail to exercise reasonable due diligence that would have otherwise resulted in lower capital costs while achieving higher thermal efficiencies.

I’ve spoken on this before, particularly at Conferences, on Panels, and within Industry Magazines. Due diligence expresses the care that a reasonable person exercises to research, analyze, and prepare for a transaction, process, or strategy.

My many esteemed colleagues will echo my personal astonishment regarding how many insulants are selected without the supplier even demonstrating compliance with applicable Codes and Standards such as ASTM, CINI, etc. - - measured by an independent third party - - not by an in-house lab, and not a product formulation different from the product delivered. And since insulants are meant to insulate over the long term, due diligence is also intended to ensure the life-cycle balance of cost versus performance is achieved.

It is increasingly incumbent on engineers, specifiers, asset owners, and stakeholders to be diligent regarding the facts, the relevance of the facts, and full disclosure of facts. A life-cycle costing of the insulation system is also warranted in the majority of applications.

Ted TALK #2: “Honest Talk”

Ted TALK: "Honest Talk"

Okay, yes, a rather direct statement - - yet more-so a promise from Dyplast to customers and others in the industry. You’re receiving this message either because we’ve either worked together in the past, may work together in the future, or you have somehow followed us. In my first Ted TALK I jumped into the fray with the “Mechanical Insulation Value Chain” blog assuming you knew me and understood the context. The responses were positive but I wanted to step back and explain where I was coming from.

Dyplast is entrenched in Mechanical (pipe/equipment) Insulation and Panel Insulation, indeed mostly for temperatures less than ambient, yet we’re also innovative in Composite and Core Foams. Within those product/market contexts, you can expect to hear honest comments about issues and trends that affect us.  To the extent that you disagree with me, I welcome your input. In this highly technical and complex industry, I have heard that you feel many suppliers misrepresent or do-not-disclose the real story which is why I will be offering you my honest opinion to help inform you.

In my next Ted TALK I’ll get back to meat-and-potatoes issues.

Approaching the Holiday season, everyone at Dyplast extends to you our best wishes!
