Dyplast Helps Create Portable Produce Pod with Huntsman Corp and Kroger

“Dyplast participated with Huntsman Corporation, Kroger, and others to create a “Portable Produce Pod” - - much like a big, mobile walk-in cooler for the Montgomery County Food Bank (MCFB) in Texas.

MCFB collects and distributes food to partner agency food pantries, and aims to have fresh produce make up at least 50% of its total distribution. However, most of their receiving food pantries do not have sufficient refrigerated space to hold and re-distribute perishable products. Hence the need for a refrigerated Pod.

The whole process of designing the Pod and finding manufacturers and suppliers took less than a year. Dyplast is proud to have been able to offer its ISO-CF polyisocyanurate (a modified polyurethane) insulation with the requisite thermal resistance, strength, and other advantageous properties.

Dyplast Receives 2018 Florida Sterling Manufacturing Business Excellence Award

ORLANDO - Dyplast Products received statewide recognition as a  2018 winner of the second annual Florida Sterling Manufacturing Business Excellence Award. The award, recognizing high performing manufacturers in six categories, was announced and presented June 1 at the Governor's Sterling Awards Banquet in Orlando.

The Florida Sterling Council and FloridaMakes collaborated on these statewide awards. Companies were judged on leadership, strategic planning, customer and market focus, measurement, analysis and knowledge management, workforce and operations.

Dyplast was selected from among 27 award finalists; 120 manufacturers were nominated. "Failures at a new LNG facility during the first few months of initial operations can be expensive and cause damage to a company's image. Therefore, most companies do everything possible to ensure a 'perfect start-up', but this is easier said than done. Identifying what may ultimately cause problems is a first step to controlling and eliminating those problems. Although it may be challenging to anticipate the main reasons for forced shutdowns or curtailments during the first months of operation, poor design and installation of the insulation system are clearly on the list.

While many of the principles that are discussed are applicable to any insulant, this article focuses on polyisocyanurate (polyiso) and cellular glass (cell glass), since there is more long-term experience with those insulants, with successful service, with no failures over periods of 20 years and more."

Dyplast Products’ Ted Berglund participates in NIA Insulation Industry Panel

Ted Berglund of Dyplast Products was a panelist in a Manufacturers VIP Panel hosted by NIA during their 61^st Annual Convention this year in Boca Raton, Florida. Ted was among a group of executives from global manufacturing companies addressing the many different opportunities and challenges within todays insulation industry. Panel discussions took place April 21–22, 2016, and topics included industry growth, supply versus demand, globalization, industry consolidation, energy conservation, life-cycle analysis, holistic code development, labor force issues, and strategic initiatives within the mechanical insulation industry.

I enjoyed participating in NIA’s Insulation Industry Panel and found that it was great vehicle to engage and respond to some of the most important and relevant issues concerning the insulation industry today.

Both panels were moderated by Ron King, a NIA consultant and 50-year veteran of the insulation industry. The National Insulation Association (NIA) presented Dyplast Products with the 2015 Theodore H. Brodie Distinguished Platinum Safety Award at its 61st Annual Convention/WIACO in Boca Raton, Florida, on April 21, 2016. Dyplast received its first Silver Award in 2012 and from 2013-15 received 3 Platinum Awards.

Dyplast publishes new article, "Logical Thinking" in LNG Industry Magazine

Dyplast Products’ new article in LNG Industry Magazine titled "Logical Thinking" is an examination of the complexities surrounding insulant performance at cryogenic temperatures.

Physical properties of a particular insulant are often measured only at ambient temperatures. This article aims to use logical thinking to examine the performance of insulants at LNG (cryogenic) temperatures.

Fortunately, standards such as ASTM and CINI increasingly require physical properties to be measured at cryogenic temperatures, so that in the future such logical extrapolations may be less necessary.

Dyplast examines the role of the insulation system in optimizing value in LNG Facilities!

 

Dyplast CEO Ted Berglund and VP of Sales and Marketing Joe Hughes just published an article in the “July/August” issue of LNG Industry magazine which examines the importance of due diligence when choosing a cryogenic insulation system that will optimize value in LNG Facilities. The selection of the optimal insulant and the appropriate insulation system is “Mission Critical”! Engineers, specifiers, owners, and stakeholders are becoming increasingly vigilant regarding what information is relevant, what information is factual, is there full disclosure, and is data validated by an independent laboratory? These concerns dictate a second or even third look at optimizing lifecycle risk and performance – steps beyond lifecycle cost. This article considers the role of the insulant and the insulation system in these efforts since they have a substantial impact on lifecycle cost (material/labor capital cost), long term operation and maintenance costs, and on lifecycle performance and risk.
